The sun is out today for the first time in over a week. It's really gorgeous with the blue sky and the sun highlighting all the colorful leaves. I really like watching all the leaves change color - not just from green to brown to on the ground, but the whole range from green through yellow, orange, and red and all their combinations. I like when a leaf is half yellow and half red from unequal sun exposure, or yellow on top and still green on the bottom. Or when a tree is green on the ground floor of my apartment building, then yellow when I see it from the second floor, then red on the third floor level. Neat neat neat. I want to collect leaves and press them in a book, but I think it would attract bugs.
Ah, the bugs. More on that later.
So, it's a gorgeous day and I stayed home from school. More accurately, I missed the morning shift at work, then skipped my only Monday class, then decided to forgo the afternoon portion of work as well. I told work that I do not feel well, which is absolutely true. In honesty, I probably could have gone, but I know it would have made me feel worse. Whereas, sitting outside in the sun looking at leaves makes me feel better.
My internet also stopped working in the apartment, so I had to climb the staircase to the next floor to start getting a wireless signal again. The router I'm using is in Lindsay's apartment on the 3rd floor. Will remedy this when my new computer gets here and I actually start paying for internet.
I can justify staying home by working on a presentation I have for Thursday, and checking the office email from home. Also, downloading Yahoo! games for when the internet goes out again in my apartment after dark. Also to share this list with you, to enlighten and amuse you (and only you). Enjoy!
Things I Really Like about Seattle so Far:
-Walking to school and passing interesting people, things, and stores
-The really good coffee
-Campus = beautiful
-The Farmer's Market
-My cute, recently painted apartment
-My job (when I'm not skipping...this is the first time!)
-Meeting new and interesting people
-Feeling superior to all the undergrads who are clearly idiots and d-bags (and sluts)
-My fun neighbors! (Lindsay just bought a hookah)
-Cheap sushi takeout on the way home from work
-Yummy local beer
-Being close to cool events (even though I need to get on this better)
-Neat grocery stores
-Eating healthy is really easy and makes me feel good
-Macy's, Nordstrom, Sephora, IKEA, Craigslist that actually gets used, and used book stores
Things I Do NOT Like very much so Far:
-Not having my car for quick errands
-Noisy people outside at night, and people in the building who slam doors
-Rude people on bikes (or more accurately, people who ride bikes discourteously)
-Homeless people and junkies on the street in the morning and at night
-Rude people who do not ride elevators correctly (let others OFF before you try to get ON)
-Rude people in line at the store who are overly impatient (stop taking it personally, already)
-Hippies (who act both rude and homeless)
-Days like today when I would just like a real hug from someone
