Shiny, like new

Another week...Monday was the only snow day, even though lots of other parts of the state got bombarded with snow. Ah, well.

I'm not sure if it's the immense amount of work I have to do this week, or my impatience with my own procrastinationism, but I finally got a grip on things and decided to become more productive. I figured out that I feel really pressured to do lots of work during the week, on top of all the work I have to do. I have work every day and arabic homework when I get home, and I end up going to bed super-early because I'm tired, so then I feel guilty for not doing extra work on my long-term projects (like the research project I'm doing, or starting early on next week's seminar readings). Anyway, instead of letting all that get to me, I had a really productive weekend and it feels really really good.

And now it's Sunday night and instead of feeling panicked and guilty for not be prepared for this week, I am making dinner and watching the Super Bowl and Puppy Bowl. And bragging on myself..

In a way it feels really good, but on the other hand, I should know all this already. I should know how to study and stay organized. But I guess lots of people don't figure this out til they start grad school and that's why people drop out....hopefully it won't come to that.

Other news:
  • I'm obsessed with home furnishings. I want to go to IKEA, stat. Also, I'm obsessed with Etsy.com, and you should be too, if you aren't already. I found a million things there I want to buy for you. Feel free to buy me things too :)
  • Yesterday's super-productive homework session started with an hour-long super-chill yoga class at the IMA on campus. Amy picked me up early (ok, 9 am) and we had an awesome class with this teacher who kept naming all the poses and body parts in Hindi (Sanskrit?) and said "you're doing it right...if you're best feeling what you feel right now." Ha ha. The best part is the IMA is on the edge of campus that faces the water so out the windows you can see water and mountains and the sun shining. very cool.
  • I want to start doing The South Beach Diet with Amy and Meghan. I've done it before, but totally bombed the whole no-carbs part. I think it's unhealthy to cut out carbs, and I also think it's stupid to avoid certain types of fruit. That said, it's only for 2 weeks and I really want to lose a few lbs. I'm thinking of just switching to whole-wheat carbs and eating less sugar. I also started a food diary to see where I can trim out empty calories. Thoughts?
  • They opened an urban outfitters behind my house, 2 blocks away. Bad news bears.
