it was only a matter of time

Funemployment has given me time for lots of side projects. (Quick job hunt update: had a follow-up interview for a job that isn't my first choice, did an online assessment for a job that is my first choice, interview tomorrow for a job that would be ~amazing~ but I have no realistic chance of getting.) Job interviews are so nerve-wracking for me, and I hate waiting for the phone to ring.

So I cleaned out my closet.

This was pretty therapeutic, but also kind of a mistake because now I just want to go shopping for new things. And since I have about $7 in my checking account right now, that will have to wait. But at least I have room for new, cute (hopefully job-ready) stuff.

The bad part? I ended up spending about 45 minutes standing in front of my full-length mirror, pretty much naked. (It makes the trying-on go much faster.)

Not really the ego boost I needed while I'm getting rejected from jobs all day.

But I thought it might be a good excuse to take an honest look at myself and maybe find some real motivation for working out again regularly (you know, since I have all this free time right now). To keep this from being too devastating I'm also giving myself credit for good things. So, here are my favorite and least favorite things about the different parts of, well, me.

(Stop reading here if you're afraid of TMI. Fair warning.)

Hair:
Good - I finally stopped dying it, so upkeep is much easier and cheaper. I love that my hair is super thick, and stylists always compliment me when I get it cut (so what if that's part of their job). And I finally found a place that cuts it well, so it actually behaves most days.
Bad - I have a killer front cowlick and a crooked natural part. Makes air-drying super fun.

Skin:
Good - Love my post-Mexico glow.
Bad- Seattle makes me break out, apparently. I thought it was just grad school stress, but I guess not.

Teeth:
Good- Nice and straight (thanks, braces)
Bad - Sorta yellow (thanks, coffee)

Face:
Good- I love my eye color, and my eyebrows are finally starting to organize themselves properly.
Bad - My nose is too big, esp from the side. And my break-outs.

Arms:
Good- I love my hands and wrists.
Bad- Chubby upper arms. Most do more curls.

Back:
Good- My spine is still straight..
Bad- Love handles!! Ahhh!

Butt:
Good - Not too big, not too small. (Seth calls it heart-shaped, which is pretty nice)
Bad - Kinda flabby. Good thing tans hide cellulite.

Boobs:
Good- Exactly not too big, for me. Relatively unscathed from the weight gain.
Bad- Sometimes too big. My kingdom for a good strapless bra. Might be saggy later. Dread.

Tummy:
Good - Still smaller than my hips and chest. Good sign.
Bad - Flab city.

Hips:
Good - Still fit in most of my pants.
Bad - Little too muffin top-like.

Thighs:
Good - Dear god, not much. Ok, umm, all that walking made them a little smaller since I moved here.
Bad - Too big, too flabby, too cellulite-y. Need to hit the bike.

Legs:
Good - Thank god for this tan. Hmmm...I guess I have nice ankles and pretty decent feet.
Bad - Could just slim down like 20% off each of them and not miss it.

Miscellaneous:
Good - nails, arm hair (not too dark or thick), knees, mouth
Bad - double chin (!!), eyes that squint up when I smile (argh), that spot on the back of my ankles I always forget to shave.

Definitely time to get back in shape. And buy new outfits, of course.
