- a couple SENSIBLE, necessary-for-work items from Ann Taylor Loft, ON SALE
- this book from Amazon, which is the new edition of a book I've wanted FOR AGES already
- quite a haul from Victoria's Secret (it's their panties and bra clearance, ladies! Online only! $3.99 panties!)
- candles from etsy (from a shop run by friends back home, with adorable stuff! They always run out of the scents I want, so I got a couple that I've had my eye on.)
- Starbucks and an almond joy (thanks, PMS!)
BIG NEWS: Seth bought me a nook!! The adorable e-reader from Barnes & Noble, not the cute kitchen area where you can eat breakfast. This weekend we went to B&N and he surprised me with it as an early birthday gift. I've wanted an e-reader since the Kindle first came out. The thing is, I love to read, but I have a bad habit of buying books and then letting them gather dust instead of actually reading them. I thought I would solve this by getting a library card, and that was great, but not perfect.
Anyway, so far, I LOVE IT. It comes pre-loaded with a few classics, and you can download stuff instantly from the web (not just B&N). It has a built in dictionary to check words I don't know. I can take notes and highlight stuff (you know, if I was still reading not for fun). BN has lots of free ebooks, but theyre mostly really bad sci-fi, bad romance, bad vampire romance, and gay porn (not kidding). I've spent the last few days agonizing over what to buy first, and downloading samples of books I want to see how they are before I take the plunge. It's around the same price or less as a real book for new titles, and classics are $0.99 or so. I'd gotten it narrowed down to a few, and then today I found out that I can get e-books for free from the Seattle library. And my mind. Was blown. They don't have a HUGE selection, since the technology is kinda new, and lots of stuff isn't in ebook form yet anywhere. (For these I can use the regular library, anyway.) There's a waiting list for a few things I want, but for a girl on a budget (especially after today's spending spree), this is HUGE, yall. Best of both worlds, right? I can download a whole book for free and keep it for 3 weeks. If I love it, I can buy it, but if I don't, it deletes automatically and gives me space for more. I'm seriously in love.
Anyway, things are good. Work has been crazy with all the end-0f-quarter razzmatazz. The weather has gotten GORGEOUS, which helps things tremendously. And we're getting thai food for dinner and watching the last new episode of LOST before the finale this weekend, so that's hard to beat.
