So, after graduation weekend (whoooo!) I had to come back to Seattle for school. But even better, I had to prepare for Seth to move up, which I did, and he did. :)
Seth left on a Sunday night at around 11pm, drove straight into Denver (uh, yeah, it's far), stayed the night in a motel (to watch the basketball game), woke up and drove all the way to Seattle. He arrived at my apartment at around 1am Wednesday morning. No one has ever driven so quickly across the country for me before :) But seriously, he said it was easier than he thought it would be, I think because (a) his car is awesome and ridiculously fun to drive (and I bought him a Garmin for graduation) (b) David Williams came with him and they totally love to hang out and (c) I learned they had what was probably a fatal amount of energy drinks on the way, each.
So David stayed a few days, and we did a few fun Seattle things. I hope he had a good time, even though it was kind of a whirlwind trip and all they mostly did was eat and sleep (I ate, slept, and went to work). But we DID go to the zoo, which was AWESOME, and is now a part of the visiting-friends intinerary. The zoo has really great exhibits (they have a red panda! And a sloth bear!) and is really like 5 blocks from my house, and it's pretty huge. Maybe a little bigger than the one in Tyler, if I remember.
So now David is gone, and I'm back to school/work like usual. Except that now I have a roommate :) who is also my bff and possibly even better than I remember..
Ok so sharing a studio is definitely NOT ideal, but it's only temporary and the rent is low and the neighborhood is great. We have a farmers' market and yummy restaurants (like this amazing new sushi place that I want to live in) and oh yeah the fucking zoo. So I think we can tough it out this summer, then move when my lease is up in August to a bigger place in an equally awesome neighborhood (FYI - Seattle doesn't have any bad neighborhoods, ask Roxie and Jared haha).
But other than the space issue (and hello, I'm always going to give my roommates space issues with my clothes alone) living with seth is really, really, really, freaking, fantastic. I explained to him that the apartment usually stays hectic-messy for most of the week since I don't have time to clean after work (that's when I shower/cook/homework) so cleaning gets relegated to the weekend, along with major errands and projects (and don't get me started on homework), hence the motto for my apartment is There's always the weekend. which works pretty well for me. Except that when I got home from school Thurs or Fri he had cleaned a full week's worth of dishes and cleaned the counters :) which made me really really happy. Don't worry I cleaned the rest of the apartment yesterday including the toilet.
So basically I'm now pretty amped up for this summer being awesome. I know things will be different when he has a job, and of course we'll fuss at each other over stuff like usual, but for now at least things are really, well, great. I remember why I love being around him and why I missed him so much, and it feels really good to have someone to come home to. I have more to say, but it's all pretty sappy, so I'll spare ya.
Anyway, other than that, I'm almost finished with my last quarter of my first year of grad school. I think I did pretty well, but man that shit is hard. It's been an experience, for sure. I'm taking summer classes in German and Spanish so yeah, no real break, but I do want to escape to the beach for at least a weekend. I think we might drive down to Oregon cause I've never been. This place is supposed to be like, Coney Island circa 1950's, which would be super fun.
