Ha ha I sucked it up and went to the gym today. It wasn't terrible. In case you were worried, my brilliant crash diet disappeared about 24 hours after the last post, when Seth and I continued our cajun food craze with fried oysters and bloody marys this weekend. YUM. I broke down and bought some homemade pickled asparagus from the farmers' market on Saturday (I have been eyeing them since I moved here...they're just a little pricy for my budget) and guess what...they're heaven. You're all getting some for xmas in 2009 (or you could come visit before then).

Good news: I finally figured out what I want to be my focus for my degree.
Bad news: I realized that absolutely no one in my department's faculty studies it. Or anything close. I'm going to have to push the definition of "interdisciplinary degree" to pull this off in the next year.

Amy and I walked around Greenlake on Saturday. There were TONS of cute doggies, including one brown and black brindle english bulldog who was NOT impressed with his owner making him walk. He kept looking back like, "are you kidding me with this?" and the owner was this youngish guy who was dressed for jogging, and he was like "yeah! let's go!" Even funnier was about 2 minutes later we saw another big brown and white bulldog, this time with a woman who was pushing him in a big plastic beach stroller. The dog's face was like "yeah!" and looked super happy. It was so funny.

It was a short while later when a naked man riding a bicycle rode by. I didn't notice him until he had already passed us (thank god) and the sight of his long long white hair, very white back and, ahem, butt-crack actually made me stop mid-sentence. It was like "Yeah, I don't know what Prof W is think-....that guy on the bike is naked." Apparently there's a group of naked cyclists that show up in the city from time to time and ride around. And people are cool with it, even though you never really know where they will be, and there are like 30 of them, men and women. This was only one guy though, which seemed sort of weird. Especially since everyone else was yuppies with their dogs and parents with their precocious Seattle children on bikes. Yikes. Oh well.

Big news: Seth and I are visitng Austin for Labor Day! I'm so very excited, especially since we missed out on July 4th at Hollandland. Yea!

AH! So what is this focus you speak of?

Something with queer theology and social constructions of religion identity...and evangelicals. Hmm. It's less clear than it was in my head..

No, I totally get it. It's like studying what causes Ted Haggard, but less depressing.
