"If you don't think Hilary Swank is hot, then you're saying that I'm not hot...because obviously I'm not as hot as Hilary Swank!"
Is anyone else glad that The Office is back to being really funny? Last season was kinda ehh..compared to earlier ones. But it's gotten its mojo back with last week's Duel episode ("The Prius is silent as long as you keep it under 5 mph. He deserves the win for this alone.") and this week's Hilary Swank hot or not debate (organized like a real debate).
The inauguration this week was amazing. I got to watch most of the pre-show stuff while I got ready for class, then watched the rest when I got home (not all 8 hours of coverage, just the speech and oath stuff). When I got to my spanish class, the teacher from the class before had the Inaugural address playing (live) in Spanish with Spanish captions and dubbing. Not quite as inspiring, but a lot of other classes had the English version playing, so as I was walking to class I could hear the speech, like, echoing down the hall from other classrooms. I watched it all again later, and I decided that Obama makes me want to be a better person...lol. So corny.
School is okay. I feel like this quarter (my second to last), I'm finally finally finally getting the hang of things. Like, I feel like I'm actually learning and retaining things, and I feel some vague sense of knowing what's going on and where I fit in and finding my own voice. And of course, how much I just don't know. It's a huge relief, but it reminds me that I'm also ready to be done done done already.
Anyway, my eye is better, but I haven't put my contacts back in yet...my eye is still a little red so I want it to be 100% better in case there's some icky bacteria still lurking. So I've been wearing my nerd glasses all week to class and everywhere (I haven't worn them outside the house since literally, middle school). People didn't even care because, um, in Seattle looks don't matter. But I definitely felt self-conscious, which was awful because I had a couple important meetings with professors and a paper presentation for a class. It might be time to buy some grown-up frames.
And it's taken me almost 2 months, but I finally finished Choke by Chuck Palahniuk. Can't decide if I liked it, and I really don't think I want to see the movie because it doesn't seem like it would work...thoughts?

1. You sound like Beyoncé, post Neighborhood Ball when she started tearing up and said, verbatim, "He makes me want to be smarter. He makes me want to be more involved."
2. I've been wearing my glasses for over a month because I'm too broke to buy more contacts. Tim is going nuts and keeps asking me why I won't put my contacts in because he HATES the glasses. At least you have a bacterial excuse.
3. I dunno... I think the movie version of _Choke_ might be ok. Sam Rockwell is kind of perfect for that part. But then, the movie version never really IS any good is it?
