And lemme stop ya right there, because I know what that sounds like, and no, I'm not pregnant. Promise.
For the past two days all I want is chicken taco salad. (which I'm making tonight)
Before that, it was just regular big salad. And Japanese teriyaki/takeout.
I think it's a weird result of all the anxiety/stress my body has been dealing with. I'm also alternate between being completely not hungry (and nauseated) and totally ravenous.
I'm also trying to eat healthier, so really bad-for-me foods sound especially amazing. It doesn't help that Roxie sent me THIS recipe at work yesterday:
New Favorite Thing to Eat:
Cook TaterTots half-done
Roll over and sprinkle with season salt, sharp shredded cheddar, and real crumbled bacon bits
Bake until done
Slather in sour cream and hot sauce
Eat until heart stops, or satisfied, whichever happens first.
..which made my stomach growl so loud at first I thought my computer was rebooting.
Basically, my body and brain are totally overwrought and out of whack. Which is not helpful to my productivity, not to mention what it's probably doing to my heart and endocrine system. (I don't know what endocrines do. Aren't they the ones that make adrenaline? Whatever gland that makes me anxious is working overtime, for sure.) I'm also definitely putting more weight (I'm not exactly an emotional eater, but the stress is making my body refuse to burn calories, I'm pretty sure). Which doesn't make any of this more delightful.
Anyway, after work I'm going to the store for taco salad fixins, then home to clean the kitchen (which always makes me feel a bit better), possibly making the tater tot heart-explosion dish (but probably I should eat a salad or some steamed asparagus because, like I said, I could lose some weight), doing whatever homework I can stomach, hitting the gym or doing yoga (or taking a nap) in hopes of burning off some of this nervous energy, and then of course making chicken taco salad.
By the way, my fixin's include: (poached or roasted) chicken, (light) cheese, salsa, (light) sour cream, tomato, lettuce, avocado, black beans, jalepenos, and black olives. Some recipes call for corn, but I think that's sort of weird (although I do like corn salsa, sometimes). What would you add?
(Kristin, I'm borrowing your Chicken for Tacos recipe, too!)

Right before I got married I was barely eating, exercising all the time... and gaining weight. Stress is evil. Also, I really want nachos now. To make them healthier I usually make them with black beans and they are delicious! :)
I want someone to make taco salad for me. I've been really lazy lately so my body's been tricking me into not being hungry for anything at all, like my stomach says "rrrrr" and my brain says "shut up, you want it, someone has to get up and cook it. Give up."
I might still walk to the grocery store and buy a whole roasted chicken and eat it by myself, re: our discussion about white meat vs. dark meat earlier today. That seems legit.
Also, was it irony when you said you were going to do "as much homework as you could stomach"?
Yum, black beans! Also came in handy when I realized I didnt have as much chicken as I needed, and had to stretch it. :)
Roxie- Whenever I cook I usually make enough for just two people, and we usually don't have leftovers. But for some reason, whenever I make tacos it's enough to feed an army (and yet, mysteriously, there are usually still no leftovers). What's my point? If you were here there'd be enough for you (and tim).
FYI, your endocrine system is the thing Gary Busey is going to pull out of your body. Duh.
How did you like the chicken for tacos?
